About

My name is Kenny Burchard, and I’m the curator and blogger here. This site is dedicated to my own journey of faith through biblical, theological, practical and historical reflection as a Catholic follower of Jesus. I was not always a Catholic. My entire family entered into full communion with the Catholic Church in April of 2019. Check out the youtube video below to hear that story.

As for my life and background, I became a Christian in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1986 when I was 17 years old. I’ve been married to my wife, MaryJo since 1992, and we adopted our son, Victor, from Ukraine in 2005 (when he was 3 years old). During most of my married life my wife and I served as vocational protestant pastors in several protestant churches, including serving as the senior and founding pastor of a protestant pentecostal church in central California from 2001-2013. During my time in protestant pastoral work I completed a seminary degree (M.A. New Testament) at a Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary (Fresno Pacific University Biblical Seminary), and taught verse-by-verse through several books of the Bible.

It was St. Anselm of Canterbury who famously described theology as “faith seeking understanding.” As long as I have been a Christian (over 34 years now), I have been on this journey. It has led me through some interesting terrain, and ultimately, landed me and my family in the Catholic church in April of 2019. This blog is my own attempt to continue to track some of the things I am learning (or have learned) as the journey of faith seeking understanding continues.

I welcome irenic dialogue and interaction with anything you see here. Feel free to leave comments on any of the posts you find and I’ll do my best to respond.

God bless you! – Kenny Burchard (July 2020, Virginia Beach, VA)
